Joey's Party

When I first asked Joey what he wanted to do for his birthday (3 weeks ago), he told me that he wanted to go to the park, eat hotdogs, have a pinata, and swim. No big deal, there are lots of parks and pools in our housing complex to choose from. We made plans, sent out invitations and then called one of the parks to make a reservation to use the Ramada. Little did we know, all the parks were being re-seeded that weekend and so with a quick change of plans we moved the party to the clubhouse.

Joey once again wanted puppy dog cupcakes, so I made some different puppy dog cupcakes and a cake for the adults/kids who didn't want the cupcakes. He thought it was hilarious that his party blower could blow out his candle, and so I think Chad ended up relighting the candle 4 times while we sang "Happy Birthday."

After food, cake, and playing at the clubhouse park, we went around the lake to hit down Joey's pinata. Chad had to climb a tree to get the rope up. This kids thought that was hilarious. Then after the pinata came down, we got out water balloons and played a game of water balloon toss (Or water balloon war depending upon who you were and what your objective was.)

We ended by opening presents and finally swimming at the clubhouse pool. None of Joey's friends stuck around for the swimming because it was only about 65 degrees outside, but Joey wanted to do it, and so we stayed for about 30 minutes and swam. The party ended up being a lot of fun. Joey was happy and in the end, that's all that really matters.
