Jake Counting to 100

Jake:  Hey mom, you want to hear me count to 100. 

Mom:  Sure, go ahead (thinking. . . .where is Chad when I need him?)

Jake:  1, 2, skip a few 99, 88, 100

Mom: Did Rebecca and Sara teach you that?  

Jake:  Uhhuh

Mom:  Good job, but you can leave out the 88.  It's just 1, 2, skip a few 99, 100. 

Jake:  but I like it better my way.  

Mom:  Well, Okay then.  

Ear Ring Drama

For those of you who have little girls. . . you may or you may not have strong feelings about ear rings.  For me, ear rings have never really been a big deal, but I thought the girls should be at an age where they could decide for themselves whether or not they REALLY wanted them.  

About 3 months ago we were in the car driving to Lubbock and on a whim I decided to go ahead and let the girls get their ear's pierced.  I didn't really think that they would do it (because they are deathly afraid of shots) but their desire out-weighed the fear and they did it.  

School came to an end and the long awaited day arrived when they could change their ear rings.  The girls were so excited to finally wear "Dangle" ear rings.  One problem, Rebecca's ears seemed to not be healing as quickly as Sara's were.  We decided to have both girls wait another two weeks and so they did (without to much complaint).  

So now the girls are able to wear any ear rings they would like, but Becca's ears still seemed to be having problems.  So yesterday at dance, Rebecca's ear ring popped inside her earlobe.  Don't ask me how it happened, but it took about 3 hours to figure out that the entire ear ring was in the hole in her ear instead of just a portion.  After lots of tears and the final retraction of the ear ring, Rebecca has decided that she will NEVER wear ear rings again.   So hey, if you don't want your kids to pierce their ears, let them do it.  They may end up deciding it isn't really worth it.  

Mary Poppins Ballet

I'm not going to post all of the girl's dances, but I thought a few might be fun to watch. Not to bad considering that Sara turned 7 the day after the recital and Becca is only 8 and a half. I can't wait to see what they will be doing in another 2-3 years. Enjoy.

This video is from the dress rehearsal. It was about 7pm and we had been there since 8am. You can tell by the look on Sara's face that she was tired. Hopefully this will go through.

Recital Time

  For those of you who were wondering what happened to us, we had a recital last week.  For most people that wouldn't mean much, but when you are one of the teachers at the studio, it's chaos.  Between trying to collect past due payments for recital fees, tuition, costumes, etc. . . and trying to design programs, get out info on summer workshops, and stage a recital let's just say that sleep became a luxury I didn't have much time for.  My mom flew in Thursday and came to the theater to rescue my girls from dress rehearsal, then on Friday we frantically got together costumes for a class that had their order canceled (something we were unaware of until Friday morning).    There is definitely no business like show business.    

  After a 25 minute late start to the show, and a curtain that wouldn't open because the cord had flung 50 feet in the air, things actually went really well.  The dances came together, the girls looked great and I think the audience really enjoyed it.  Now it's two weeks off and summer workshops here we come.
