Pictures from the Ranchvale Show

Ranchvale Show

Once again, I hate You tube, but I had to post this dance for family and friends. Becca and Sara had their second dance show yesterday at Ranchvale Elementary. We just finished learning the lyrical dance last Saturday and so (all things considered) I think they did really well. My battery ran out at the end so you miss the final pose, but that's life.

Since we were performing at Ranchvale, I had two of my Thursday students jump in and dance "One step at a time" with my performing group. We will need to work out some spacing issues before they all perform it for the recital, but I think everyone enjoyed doing it together.

You may have to cut and paste, but you get the idea.

Little Boys and Girls

Once upon a time I had two cute little girls who dressed up like princesses wore cute little hair bows and sundresses. . . . Fast Forward 5 years and now I see this.  Clones walking around my house with guns and light sabers.  We wear jeans with holes and t-shirts.  We find bugs in the back yard, pick them up and show them to mom.  And on a really good day, we blast enough bad guys in our Star Wars Wii game to buy more bad guys.  Jake wants Babafet (I don't have any clue how this one's spelled).

So gone are the days of princesses and fairy tales.  My girls now listen to their ipod and want to watch tween shows (Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly Place, and iCarly).  They try and steal my makeup and construct mailboxes that they have now hung on their door so that I can write them notes every day telling them how much I love them.  Oh and High School Musical 3 just came out.

Isn't it crazy how life changes.  Childhood goes by so fast.  I only hope that I take enough time to enjoy it.

Portales Dance Show

I hate You Tube, but it was the only way that I could download this dance.  Apparently it is too long to download onto blogger.  So, in spite of my dislike for the website, here is the link you can copy if you want to watch the girls dance.  Sara is in pink and Rebecca is in green.  Enjoy.

One Step at a Time

Today was the girls first dance show down in Portales. I think they did a pretty good job. I am really excited to see how everything comes together for competition. The song they were dancing to was "One Step at a Time" by Jordan Sparks. I will see if I can download a video of it, but I am having some problems. If I can get it all figured out, then you can watch the show. But for now, here are some fun shots.

Saying Goodbye to Grandpa Brown

Today at around 4pm my Grandpa Brown passed away.  He has been struggling with a lung disease for some time, but I guess when you live so far away you don't really believe that it's happening.

I feel pretty lucky to have had my grandpa around for so long.  He's been able to watch me grow up, get married and visit with my children.  Rebecca received her first set of scriptures from my grandpa as a gift for her baptism.  He gave her a pair that he had been using and had his name taken off and hers engraved on them.  I can't think of a more special gift.

Chad was in Arizona last week interviewing for medical programs and was able to visit for the last time with my grandpa.  My grandpa asked Chad how he was going to die.  Chad said that he didn't really know, but explained the process his body would go through as his ability to breath deteriorated.  Little did we know then that a week and two days later he would be leaving us.

I love my grandpa.  I love his smile.  I love his optimism.  I loved visiting with him.  He reminds me so much of my dad.  I know that he is in a better place now, but I will miss him.  I love you grandpa.  I can't wait to see you again someday.
