Joey's Talk

There is nothing quite like watching your 5 year old prepare to give a talk in church.

Joey was really excited about "his turn" to speak in Primary last Sunday. He practiced "Reading" his talk several times. He colored all the pictures himself. (Since green is his favorite color, a lot of the pictures were green.) I began to think, "Wow, this kid is really taking his speaking seriously."
WRONG!!!!

Joey is still Joey and you can't put a live microphone in front of Joey and expect to have a reverent experience. Luckily, I was able to keep the words coming fast enough to stop most of the giggling and Loud outbursts. Eventually they will learn that turning on the microphone, while it is effective, is incredibly distracting for five year old little boys. What do I do with my cute little Joey? I guess I will just have to squeeze and tickle him.

A Tale of Two Kittys

A long time ago I promised my children that when they turned 10 they could choose a pet. So, Rebecca was really disappointed when we decided to let Sara get a cat, before she had a chance to pick a pet of her own. Needless to say, we were back at PetSmart today for the Saturday Adoption program they do with SAFE and now we are the proud owners of two cats. Zaria is Rebecca's black cat, and Lucy is Sara's. The two cats haven't decided whether or not they really like one another. I guess only time will tell. What have I done??????

Lucy

After years of debate, several fish, dogs that lived with us for almost 4 months, and mom swearing off all animals, we finally decided to let Sara pick a pet for her early birthday present. She chose LUCY.



We adopted Lucy from the SAFE program at Petco. She is 1 year old, liter box trained, already spayed, and very well tempered. She handles the love that she is receiving extremely well.



As soon as we arrived home from the pet store, we gave Lucy a bath. Now she is clean and soft and cuddly. Then dad laid down the law on what will and will not be allowed with regards to Lucy. We will see how things go, but so far no one can get enough of our new addition. Welcome home Lucy.

If it isn't one thing, it's another

This has been one crazy week.

First, my brother Bob is in the hospital for an irregular heart beat and blood pressure issues. The next day my dad goes into the hospital. They still haven't figured out what is wrong with him, but they sent him home with meds to help keep his blood pressure down. So apparently blood pressure issues seem to be the thing with my family.

Then today:

We live in Arizona. It doesn't get cold here right? Apparently it does because we woke up to 15 degree weather this morning and no running water. Our pipes froze. In fact they also froze at the school and the main water supplier for the school so all the kids had to go home early. After picking up the kids, I learned that you could blow torch your pipes and then wrap them up so that they don't freeze. Believe it or not it works. So, water is back on and I am ready for another freezing night. It is supposed to be 18 degrees tomorrow. Cool huh! Literally.
