CYT's The Little Mermaid

Auditions for CYT's "The Little Mermaid" were held the weekend following the final performances for the "Music Man."  This show was a lot of fun but under a considerable time crunch.  From auditions to the first performances, there was less than 6 weeks.  All things considered, the show came together really well.

Cousin Matt was being baptized the first weekend of the show and so lots of family members were able to come and watch the kids perform.  We started getting some ideas because next year GEA is going to take on a junior production of the same show.  

Joey really enjoyed getting to know a lot of new kids.  When I asked him how his experience compared with our school productions he said that he really liked that the CYT shows were so big, and had multiple performances.  That made it more fun.  I'm glad he had a good time.

Sara really wanted a part in this show, so she was disappointed when she found out that she was going to be a lead dancer, but when she learned that part of her role included being a tap dancing seagull, she was a lot happier.  She ended up loving her part and was really glad to be in so much of the show.

Rebecca landed a role that now has her dead set on pursuing a career in the performing arts.  She loves being on stage, loves dressing up, and LOVED her role as Ariel's youngest sister Alana.  She did a really great job and received tons of positive feedback.  The group of girls she worked with were incredible and together they sounded Awesome on stage.  

Shannon wasn't really sure that she even wanted to audition for the show, but in end I think she enjoyed dressing up like a princess, making new friends, and getting know a handsome prince.  Not to bad for your first show.

 Once again I was amazed.  The show was well done, the kids had fun and now we have a few months off before we start this crazy process all over again.  Until August. . . . .
