Kid's Stuff

For the past two months, my life has been a crazy mess trying to prepare for our upcoming musical, "Beauty and the Beast."  I will attempt to catch up on a few events that have occurred in the meantime in between time.

 Joey participated in the pinewood derby.  He didn't place, but had a lot of fun racing.

Rebecca played trumpet in the "Rodeo Days" parade for the Mormon Battalion Float.  She's had a great experience, practicing with the band and participating in an area fireside.  

 During Rodeo Days, Sara and Jake went to a Jazz festival in Scottsdale so I decided to take Joey and Carlee to the zoo with cousins.

Back from Scottsdale and off again to perform at,  "Jazz for Fun."  Two years ago Henson and Sara Started dressing like the Blue's Brothers with the current bass player Skyler.  Last year Skyler graduated and Jake took his place allowing the tradition to continue.  Unfortunately his glasses broke during their trip and so he is a little cockeyed in this picture.

For Spring Break, we took a much needed vacation to CA.  I didn't sleep much leading up to our trip, but when we arrived I was finally able to relax and leave behind some of the musical chaos.  While we were there we went on our 3rd Family Hike for the year and spent a few days at Disneyland.  Oh, and Rebecca past her driver's permit exam.  I am so not ready to have a 16 year old.  AHHHHHH!

Carlee got tired of walking, but she made it through all but the last half mile.  I was impressed.

Now while I was getting a great night's sleep, Sara wasn't getting quite as much because she was sharing a bed with Carlee.  As you can see, Carlee is a bit of a bed hog.

Disneyland has a whole new Frozen Section at California Adventure, so dressed in her Elsa gown, Carlee built a snowman and watched the Frozen Sing Along Performance.  Before we returned to AZ, she even got to take a picture with her two favorite princesses.

The Saturday after we returned home, there was an Easter Egg hunt at our church.  Becca and Sara are to old to participate but the younger three had fun.

 Which leads us to this Easter weekend where our musical kids had a preview performance at Anamax Park, and Joey's dance crew performed a Hip Hop number to the song Dynamite; all in between sessions of General Conference.

Lucky for Sara, we had decided previously that, "Be Our Guest," would be the best number to use as advertisement for the show because about three days ago she completely lost her voice.  She has just started to talk again, today.  During the performance she wasn't able to do much more than dance and smile at the audience but kids were coming up to her after the performance and wanting to have their pictures taken with her.  She started to feel like a real Disney Princess.  (And yes, we dyed her hair for the show.  It is supposed to wash out in 28 washes.  Sara is anxious to have her blond hair back, but she is being a good sport about it.)

Joey loves his Hip Hop dance classes.  It's fun to watch him improve and do "his thing" on stage.  

 

Crazy weekend, crazy life.  Only two weeks till showtime.  I am super excited and somewhat stressed all at the same time.  Hopefully everything will come together, the kids will ALL stay healthy, and we will have a really great show.
