New Year's Resolution

So many lessons can be learned by climbing mountains and so this year our family made a New Year's Resolution to go on a hike (or two) every month of the year.

Our first family hike of the year was Tumamoc.

Although the uphill climb is a little steep at times, the trail is paved and fairly easy to navigate.  It was a good hike to start off the new year and Carlee got to ride in a stroller, so she was happy.

There is something spectacular about climbing a mountain that overlooks the city.  Rebecca and I were able to have a conversation on the drive home about home much more you can see by looking down on something as opposed to viewing it from the ground looking up or out.  Imagine the view we will have of our own mortality when we have the opportunity to see it from heaven.  Mountains are incredible teachers.
